Amidst ASUU strike, senate passes bill to establish more Federal universities
The senate during Tuesday's plenary session, passed a bill seeking to establish 18 new Federal Medical Universities in the country. The Universities would spread across the six geo political zones. Senator Yahaya Oloriegbe said the move is to ensure students aspiring to study medicine and allied sciences in the country have more opportunities. This is coming when Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is on an indefinite strike action for poor funding among other issues. The news have met wide condemnation from netizens.
