Just few weeks away from the PDP presidential primary, the Governor of Bauchi state has reiterated his stand that he will not step down for any candidate. This is coming as pressure seem to be mounting from some quarters that the party should have a consensus candidate.
He made this position in a Live interview at the weekend with AriseTV.
According to the Governor, he said he has the experience to emerge as the flagbearer of his party and President of Nigeria come 2023. He emphasized that he would not be stepping down for any candidate. In his words: The only thing that will make me step down for anybody is when Nigerians or party leader reject me."
In a similar development, Rivers state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, over the weekend met with PDP delegates of Anambra state lobbying and canvassing for their votes against their own son, Peter Obi.
Gov. Wike is quoted as saying that Peter Obi chances are slim and he cannot win the primary, adding that Nigeria needs "practical" leader like him and not one who depends on making plenty "theories".
